You Don't Have to Write Alone

Writing is a lonely business, just you, your thoughts, and your computer/notebook. You work for weeks on a poem or essay or short story, and you aren’t really sure you’re making any progress. You try a different point of conflict, a different line length, a different structure, but still….

It helps to have people who will show you they way they’ve done it. This is the impetus behind the workshops that 49 Writers offers. We want to give you the tools that you need to make what’s in your head be what’s on the page. For example, if you’ve always wanted to write a Thriller but don’t really understand police and court proceedings, you might try Ask Ms. Murder with Marcy McDannel and learn more about that world. Maybe you’re confused (like a lot of us) about how cultivate the dreaded “online presence” that writers need to promote their own work, so Cindy Dyson is going to teach an ONLINE workshop about how to promote your own work online without sacrificing your writing time or your soul. And other workshops, as well, to help you improve your writing skills and get that work out into the world.

The other benefit of workshops, and frankly readings, salons, craft talk, and even blog posts and Facebook is developing a network of writing friends. I know, that dreaded word, “network.” Think of it like a huge extended family, a little loving, a little quirky, but a lot supportive. Let 49 Writers be your family. You don’t have to write alone.
